These two young men achieved multiple international championships. In 2002 the Malaysian national badminton team coach, Yap Kim Hock, brought the two 17 year olds to come to acupuncturist Jim Liu for help regarding their injuries. They had both sustained injuries during training and had seen countless doctors with no success. They could no longer train and were only 19 days away from the Asian Badminton Championships. The odds were not in their favor. Koo Kien Keat had an ankle injury and Ong Soon Hock had injured his groin. The injuries were so severe that it was impossible to attend the national competition in their conditions. Jim treated Koo Kien Keat only once and he fully recovered and Ong Soon Hock recovered fully after 4 treatments. They then entered the Asian Junior Championships and it was at this competition that they achieved their very first international championship title in men’s doubles. Following this event they represented the Malaysian National team in numerous international competitions. Koo Kien Keat, satisfied with his achievements, won 21 various international championships including the Denmark Open, Commonwealth games, Asian games, Yonex All England Super Series, and more before retiring from the national team in 2014. It has been 14 years since Jim Liu treated Koo Kien Keat’s injuries and he hasn’t had a single relapse.
